1) What are the age and height requirements for taking one of the bike tours?
a. You must be at least 12 years old and 54” in height and be able to ride a bike. Closed toe shoes are required for all tours.
2) What type of bikes do you use on tour?
a. We have 21 speed Diamondback® Mountain Bikes with rapid fire shifting in five sizes. The different sizes are very important for our guests comfort and safety as we are able to custom fit a bike for your size and ability.
3) What type of meals do you serve on tour?
a. We serve freshly prepared wraps for lunch and unique sandwiches for dinner. We are able to accommodate vegetarians, vegans and anyone with food allergies or restrictions. Please let us know so that we can custom order your meal prior to departure. We also serve fresh island fruit, macadamia nuts and snacks throughout the day. All our meals and snacks are included in the tour.
4) What type of weather will we see on tour and how should we dress for the tour?
a. Since we have so many climates on the Big Island, it would be hard to say. We ask that our guests wear comfortable clothing in layers. For instance, start with shorts and a t-shirt and then bring a long sleeve shirt and pants in case you need them. Closed toe shoes are required on all our tours. We provide waterproof rain jackets should it start to drizzle and we have umbrellas as well. The Volcanoes National Park is at 4000’ elevation so the weather can change at any time. We believe in playing – rain or shine!
5) Will we see molten lava?
a. This will depend on the volcano at the time of your visit, but presently on our two combo tours (Kilauea Volcano Bike & Lava Adventure and Volcano & Lava Combo Tour) we are seeing molten lava and it is incredible. Nui Pohaku Adventure Tours is the only tour company to have access to an exclusive lava viewing area should the public area be closed down due to wind direction. This is very important! You have the best chance of viewing molten lava (and possibly the only chance) with our company. |
