TOUR DESCRIPTION:
Awaken your senses to the best the Big Island has to offer! Explore Kilauea Volcano in a unique way by taking the road less traveled. Entice your taste buds with 100% Hawaiian grown coffee and gourmet wines created exclusively on this island.
Start your morning right with locally grown and freshly roasted Hawaiian coffee at one of the famous Coffee Farms on your way to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Once you arrive at the park, an experienced guide will take your intimate size group on short leisurely hikes through lush rainforests alive with native birds, incredible foliage and a “walk through” lava tube. Explore hidden overlooks off the beaten path and witness the explosive power of Halema’uma’u Crater. Enjoy a stop at the Jagger Museum with its real time seismographs, eruption footage and beautiful displays of lava and Hawaiian geology.
After a picnic style specialty lunch, journey to the Volcano Winery for unforgettable wine tasting that includes award winning selections and uniquely crafted wines made with exotic fruits from around the island.
TOUR NOTES:
Elevation at the National Park is 4000ft so wear comfortable clothing in layers, a light jacket and covered shoes (required). Bring a camera, sunglasses and proof of age for wine tasting. There is approximately 1.5 miles of leisurely hiking separated over different locations. The terrain consists of paved paths, uneven terrain and unpaved trails.
TOUR RESTRICTIONS:
To enjoy this adventure, we ask that guests be at least 8 years old (minimum age is 5 years old) and all children less than 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. You must be at least 21 years of age to sample the wine. Natural sulfur gases may affect those with respiratory problems. Tour itinerary may change due to weather or volcanic activity. Children are required by law to have proper safety seats for travel in the van.
FOOD & BEVERAGE:
A specialty picnic style lunch including specialty wraps, Island Fresh Fruit, Macadamia nuts, assorted snacks, aloha fruit drinks and bottled water are provided - Vegetarian choice available.
TOUR DURATION:
The tour is approximately 6-7 hours from the Hilo area and approximately 10-11 hours from the Kona/Waikoloa area.
